Reexamining Alexander Mclearn’s Role In Adventist Education: Implications For Adventist Education Today
Yoanes Sinaga 2026
This article examines the controversial leadership of Alexander McLearn as President of Battle Creek College (1881–1882) and its relevance for renewing Adventist education in Indonesia’s Merdeka Belajar era. McLearn, a former Baptist minister turned Seventh-day Adventist, clashed with Goodloe Harper Bell over student discipline and gender relations, reflecting tensions between tradition and educational reform in early Adventist schooling. Using a biographical narrative method and archival sources, this study analyzes McLearn’s student-centered disciplinary approach, which anticipated Ellen G. White’s holistic educational philosophy but conflicted with institutional norms. The findings emphasize the importance of flexible leadership and character-based discipline. In response to declining enrollment in Indonesian Adventist schools, this article reinterprets McLearn as a misunderstood innovator and suggests integrating digital learning with Adventist values to address contemporary educational challenges.

Convergent ethical paradigms: a systematic review of islamic financial principles as a response to the challenges of the new world order
Joseph Hamonangan Sianipar, Maru Mary Jones Panjaitan 2026
The new world order, marked by digital disruption, environmental crises, social inequality, and global governance changes, calls for a reconstruction of the ethical paradigm in the financial system. Islamic finance offers a foundation based on Maqāṣid al-Sharīʿah (Islamic Principles of Sharia), emphasizing justice, balance, social responsibility, and sustainability. This study aims to develop a convergent ethical paradigm through a systematic literature review (SLR) of Islamic financial principles addressing contemporary global economic challenges. Using the PRISMA 2020 guidelines, ten articles were selected, analyzed with thematic synthesis to identify key patterns. The results show that aligning Maqāṣid al-Sharīʿah with the Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) framework forms a strong ethical foundation for a sustainable financial system. Principles like distributive justice, transparency, and environmental preservation align with global sustainability goals. The study suggests that strengthening sharia governance, developing an ESG disclosure index, and integrating sharia-compliant fintech innovations are vital strategies to improve the credibility and accountability of Islamic finance. In conclusion, Islamic finance can establish a convergent ethical paradigm that upholds Sharia integrity while engaging with global sustainability standards, offering a conceptual framework for sustainable finance policies in the new world order.
Application of the clustering algorithm to the small and micro industrial companies for mapping regions with k-medoids
Hendra Jatnika, Haris Jamaludin, Auliya Rahman, I Ibrahim, Joseph H Sianipar, Ari Waluyo, Abdul Rahman Maulana Siregar, Q Qomario 2026
The largest segment of national economic actors is the micro and small enterprises (MSEs). The research aims to analyze the number of micro and small companies in Indonesia using data mining techniques to map a cluster. The dataset used consists of three-four records of the central Statistical Bureau (SourceUrl: https: /www.bps.go.id/), composed of the micro and smaller companies in 2017-2019. The k-medoids method is the solution used in cluster mapping. The average number of small and micro enterprises for 2017-2019 is the attribute used. The numbers of clusters were determined with the Davies Bouldin Index method (DBI), where k = 2 is the best value (0.111). In accordance with the results of the cluster (k=2), the label is divided into two (high cluster (clt1) and low group) (clt2). The results of the calculation of k-medoids show that 90% of Indonesia's area is within the low class. In the high cluster are only Central Java, West Java and East Java. Accuracy, accuracy, reminder and f-measurement parameters are 100% demonstrated in the cluster test results. This mapping can be one of the foundations on which to constantly increase the number of micro and small firms, since the role of MSEs in jobs is extremely important, since it is apparent that MSEs have continued to grow considerably.

Menggali Pesan Teologis Mazmur 78:3-4 dalam Himne sebagai Sarana Pengajaran Iman Kristen
Juita Lusiana Sinambela,Janes Sinaga,Gerbin Tamba,Donald Loffie Muntu 2026
This study aims to examine the role of hymns as a medium for Christian religious education by highlighting the theological messages contained in Psalm 78:3-4 and their relevance in the process of learning faith. The problem raised in this study is the lack of attention to the integration between the heritage of biblical spiritual values and contextual learning media such as hymns in Christian religious education, especially in the process of passing on faith across generations. Psalm 78:3-4 emphasizes the importance of teaching spiritual values through storytelling and praise to God, which in practice can be realized in the form of hymn singing. This study uses a qualitative approach with textual and contextual analysis methods. Data were obtained through a study of biblical literature, Christian hymns, and supporting theological references. The analysis focused on the relationship between the theological message of Psalm 78:3-4 and the educational function of hymns as a means of instilling faith values. The novelty of this study lies in the presentation of hymns as a medium for actualizing the message of the Psalms, which not only enriches theological insight but also strengthens the method of learning faith practically in churches, schools, and families.
